In early 2026 OS Safetree undertook one of the most technically demanding tree removal projects in the Bay of Islands — the removal of a stand of mature redwood trees in a densely populated residential area of central Kerikeri.

The redwoods, some reaching significant height, posed a serious risk to surrounding homes, infrastructure and residents. Working in close proximity to occupied properties, OS Safetree's team planned and executed the removal with precision — using specialist rigging, controlled sectional felling and machine assist techniques to bring down the trees safely without damage to neighbouring properties.

The project required meticulous H&S planning, close coordination with local residents, and the kind of technical capability that few contractors in Te Taitokerau can offer. Completed safely and on schedule, it stands as a clear example of what OS Safetree brings to complex, high-risk urban tree management.
